On an annual basis, a pool party is held at the family house, in Peoria, IL. It didn't occur in 2002, because of other obligations, but in 2001, the party happened, for the first time since 1997. We first had it in 1993, when I was in High School, and held it every year following, until, in 1998, tragic events at home less than two months before the expected party date caused the first skipping of the party. In 1999, the pool was being painted, as it must every five or six years(and was, when we moved in), and the sump pump gave out. Within minutes, all the ground water, quickly trying to displace the empty pool, pushed the concrete of the pool up out of the ground by as much as 18 inches, in places. The pool was effectively destroyed, and was only repaired months later. In 2000, the house was a buzz with wedding plans, as Dad and Amy had their wedding that July. The pool party was again, quite impossible. I don't know if the party will ever happen again, but I will always remember the pool parties at our house in Peoria. Luckily, I was able to amass a cadre of poorly shot photos of the most recent, and possibly the last occurrence.
