Re: Three Light

Funny you say that. I've thought about an Automat-type situation coming back too. It might actually work well in hospital cafeterias. They usually close around 5 or 7 pm. It's vending machines after that for people working and being with family members at the hospital. There's a lot of dishes you co...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

Having a streetcar system that connects several area hospitals and universities will likely provide a certain level of constant ridership, and well as attracting residents in health care fields to live in the city. KU, UMKC, and KCUMB all send residents to work in local hospitals and clinics. Some t...

What is really needed is a really good diner/cafeteria that also serves a variety of coffees. Think something like the Forum Cafeteria downtown, Myron Green's Cafeteria, Wolferman's Cafeteria, or McClintock's in the olden days. Ideally, they would be configured to also have a takeout window facing t...

Re: Poll shows support for NKC to secede from KC

The current layout of streets in the northland makes it very difficult to ever expand transit there. One can only use some arterial streets and it's harder for transit to penetrate into neighborhoods. There are artificial barriers to pedestrians walking to distant bus stops. The other issue is polic...

I agree about the grid zoning, and I've harped about it for years on here.

Re: 2023 KCMO Election

It may be a states' rights issue. States may be the only authority with legal authority to intercede or have dominion over police or militias in their states. For example, governors are in control of the state national guard, not the president.

Re: Poll shows support for NKC to secede from KC

Being likeable goes a long way as a politician or city leader.

Many neighborhoods in Kansas City were built without sidewalks.

Re: Fantasy Retrofits: Barney Allis Plaza

Why are they proposing the apartments be on the west side of the block? Wouldn't it make more sense to have them on the east side of the block facing the Muehlebach Tower, Aladdin Hotel, and that proposed office building where a decent street wall could be created on that block? It would be a better...

Re: OFFICIAL - Hampton Inn (formerly Gumbel Building)

It could be something as simple as supply chain issues. They need something delivered before they proceed, and there's a delay and lag in production of whatever that is. Doesn't that garage next door need replaced? It's too bad that some developer didn't have a project for the parcels the garage is ...

I seem to recall when the Mainstreet was renovated it got historic tax credits that required it reinstall the blade sign. But I could be wrong about that.

Since this project technically existed before the City's affordable housing mandate, doesn't that help with the spreadsheet as well?

Why does this route go through Coleman Highlands and Roanoke instead of turning down Broadway and then west along 39th to KU Medical Center? It would seem to me that the Broadway with more of 39th St. route would to provide more development opportunities as well as allow riders to frequent W. 39th S...

Re: Sprint Center opening day pictures

Ever heard of police presence? This is a law enforcement problem. It's just another example of what happens when the City's leadership has no direct control/power over the police department. Are we also going to shut down Main at Pershing, because there's video of cars spinning around at that inters...

Re: 423 West 8th Street (Barton Bros Shoe Building)

I used to live near the intersection of 9th and Washington. There was competition for street parking during the work day because of State Street and DST being in the neighborhood. After 5 pm,and on weekends, one could usually find a space on the street.
