Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

I just wanted to let you know, you are the reason I wrote the last sentence in my post. It's so obvious even before I clicked "Submit" that you're gonna complain that I even got out ahead of it with my last sentence, but that still wouldn't even stop you, would it? You just simply couldn't accept m...

Re: 2023 KCMO Election

Watching the meeting of the commission, they said the main goal was minority representation. This looks to mean that districts 3 and 5 keep getting bigger to keep them minority represented. This probably means 4 moves a good way into the Northland and 6 takes the spin term part of the State Line st...

Re: 2023 KCMO Election

This is how the Troost boundary is busted. Again, shift lines in your mind since I doubt these exact ones work, but imagine the council where the 4th drops everything south of the crossroads and keeps the historic NE + gains from 1st and 2nd. Then give midtown to the 3rd and split up 5th/6th for dis...

Re: 2023 KCMO Election

If KCMO wants to beat the Northland...its most current signature project (aside from streetcar, I suppose) is the airport in the Northland. Maybe refocus the big projects back to the urban core. How does the airport benefit the northland politically? Do northland residents visit the airport weekly ...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

I love the streetcar more than most...but the only thing bad about it right now are the wait times at the stops. It's usually takes way too long to wait for it to come to your stop. The last several times I've used it, people are electing to just walk from Union Station to downtown or vice versa *a...

Re: 2023 KCMO Election

The northland of KCMO has about 218k people today It has ready development land for 125k more So, we'll be on the hook for more soccer fields? It goes way beyond that. Clay County EDC has a group looking at starting our equivalent of College Blvd. The "587" project. http://www.clayedc.com/news/news...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

Probably in the minority here but I still think we'd be alot better off fixing our over-built highway issue (i.e. the loop, etc.) than paying for light rail. We only have money for so many things at a time, so this is the direction I'd go. I think we'd reap more rewards & development for the urban ...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal

In my opinion, it was pasture land. Perhaps "undeveloped future suburbia" would also be an appropriate description. In any case, the point is that this detour adds more than five miles to the journey. That is not trivial. Urban interstate detours that go on for more than one year should not add fiv...

I mean, kull seems to be whining about perceived shaming/fearmongering, which did happen last year around the Ozarks party, Sturgis, etc. That article is reporting an actual increase in cases immediately following Sturgis, and I wouldn't characterize that reporting as "hypocritical," since Province...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal

Secondly, "undeveloped pastureland"? Unless you drove all the way up to 435 (which, again, isn't the detour) you took 169 to 152 which passes through normal suburban developments and not a single "undeveloped pasture". Even on 152 there's not really any "undeveloped pasture". Incredibly, you're wro...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Baseball goes downtown I say build a domed stadium where the K is for the Chiefs. Reason being a dome would almost guarantee Final 4s in KC. I do wonder with all the developments downtown and the Big 12 being cleansed of UT would the Big 12 move its offices back up here as well? NAIA is downtown an...

Have there been any accidents at current KCI that you can remember? No Does anyone use the current below ground tube? Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

JoCo is doing a lot of infill. Building in parking lots, bulldozing and redeveloping, it’s not just the far fringes. That would show the relative sale prices. There’s less profit due to lower prices and banks won’t give home loans outside of the range they can appraise the neighborhood at (same age...

Re: Is Midtown Marketplace one of the city's greatest blunders?

It was just a thought exercise to illustrate lessons in how to better create a retail node that also has residential and mixed-use. More people living adjacent, and more tax revenue in the long run. I can see the north half as being doable today. Turn it into more like The Legends in design. With t...

That Embassy Suites, in the former Federal Reserve Bank, has been a maddening experience. I think the Loews wasn't even on the radar when they announced the conversion.
It was announced in 2013.
The Hyatt announcement was in 2015.
