Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

Just curious, why didn't take the riverfront connection down 3rd street through Columbas park? More people served and better connection to HOA bridge.

Looks awesome. Two gut reactions though are that Concourse B and the roadway are both too narrow. Hope I'm wrong.

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

We are already building a very big and nice station at 51st street. I feel like the only direction is south and not back up and over to troost. Maybe down CC ROW to 63rd and then over to the Zoo Agreed. I was kinda shocked they claim there isn't an appetite for going down Wornall. There isn't.

Bottom line we gotta get this streetcar down Wornall beyond Brookside somehow
There is no desire, or density, or potential development, to support street car south through Brookside.

Best case would be east across UMKC and south on Troost.

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

It's completely ridiculous any large city is discussing demolishing a domed stadium that opened 25-years-ago, and an entire convention center complex that is 44-years-old -- only to rebuild a completely new convention center. What then? Oh, someone will insist they build another new football stadiu...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

I have relatives that live on Ghillam Road and they say hardly anybody uses the new cycle path there. I really hope that's not true or people just don't know about it. If nobody or very few people are using that really nice and long cycle path, then maybe there really is just no demand for such inf...

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

Are there plans to use part of the rock island way as a bike lane to connect to the trail at the stadiums? If I understand your question correctly, yes there will be a plan to connect the existing Rock Island trail to the urban core. The Linwood Corridor Complete Streets project offers some details...

Re: Sprint Center opening day pictures

I'm going to repeat myself from the "trees in kc" thread, but I think it's time to treat our Boulevards like what they're called. They're wide enough to handle some extra wide sidewalks, copious street trees, maybe even some Park Avenue style landscaped medians. Narrow the roadway and add some beau...

Re: Favorite suburban downtown

Yeah I was thinking one that started at the transit center downtown though so people can switch from one to the other
You can transfer on the Plaza, and eventually, that will be a streetcar stop. Seams like the most efficient way. Only 15-minute headways on the Main max so never a long wait.

Re: $200M E Side Mixed-Use Project - 63rd/Prospect

I'd be happy if 63rd and 59th were paved roads. I think they both have degraded past the 50% point that they would be considered gravel.

Maybe a slight exaggeration, but they have two be two of the worst core roads in the city right now.

Re: Phase Three Streetcar Expansion

So their idea is to build light rail from Johnson county to the airport that is EXCLUSIVELY for trips from Johnson county to the airport? So if I want to go from Johnson drive to Downtown, or WyCo, or the Northland, I would have to meet TSA requirements at a minimum, and probably have to have a boar...

Re: Future Stadium Plans: Chiefs and Royals

Just think, if we had built a shitty doughnut multi use stadium back in the late sixties like everyone else we would have a shiny new downtown ballpark by now. This city has no vision &

(Actually, we probably would have lost the team after Mr. K died).

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just move the rental car facilities next to the terminal rather than building an APM?

I meant from the city. So city plows know not to go down those streets? Or the hoa just supplements the city efforts?
Supplements.

Is that a private street situation or do they get funds back from the city or something to take it on themselves?
Nope, just part of our HOA fees. We get a refund if there is no need for snow removal. Not sure if the other HOA's in the area do the same.

It sucks that anything that makes a city more liveable gets knocked out of the city budget farmed out to private money to take care of.

Coming soon.. Want the streets plowed? Get your CID to do it.
Well...our HOA does it.

So essentially all in all were getting nothing any os us really want from the infrastructure bill? Just "repairs" right. Not talking about just the airport, I mean the whole city I would imagine that's true for the whole state and the main reason MDOT isn't really interested in funding any of the "...
