Re: West Bottoms Redevelopment

Rock Island Bridge Project. I assumed the West Bottom Bridge Project was dead (I think it was proposed in 2019) but today I saw it in the Star but it was behind their paywall.

From 2019:

Same project? Don't recall seeing it mentioned on KCRAG.

Re: OFFICIAL - The Continental Apartments (former Mark Twain Tower)

Great article in the The KC Star today in the “What’s Your KC Q?” Series about the EBT/UMB building site history. What a major historical loss for the city. And what an example of the ongoing “parking lot sickness” that continues to this day (example the block north of the T Mobile Center, Grand to...

Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! THE BIG 12 IS DEAD! MAYBE!

Basketball means near nothing in this playout. I don't agree with that. Football does drive "most" of the revenue, but if the B1G had an opportunity to bring in UNC or Duke, you don't think they would? KU basketball brings in a ton of $, especially since a lot of their games are on ESPN and always ...

Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! THE BIG 12 IS DEAD! MAYBE!

If that happens, I suspect KU (the lone remaining school with a marquee major sports program - basketball)... I'd guess Baylor would have a problem with this statement. Baylor deserves a lot of credit for winning an NCAA basketball championship but they are not an elite basketball program. I could ...

Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! THE BIG 12 IS DEAD! MAYBE!

Oh shit. So Texas screwing us all is back again?? If this happens we have to poach some big Mountain West schools like BYU into and Utah St into the Big 12 at that point If that happens, I suspect KU (the lone remaining school with a marquee major sports program - basketball) would leave the B12 al...

Re: Future Stadium Plans: Chiefs and Royals

I don’t disagree with you, but I do lol. I love urban sports, but kc has never experienced before. The east village is largely dead and unknown to most. The whole area needs to be developed. I can’t remember what thread we discussed in before, but they need to rethink what a baseball stadium can be...

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner

I'm really not understanding the big deal about Whataburger. It's just another run of the mill fast food chain. KC already has just about every fast food chain. More fast food chains are in the KC market than most. I think KC needs to set is bar a little higher lol. Seriously build that area out be...

Re: OFFICIAL - Strata (H&R Block's 2nd Tower)

Yeah W&R is now essentially speculative and office recovery could take a while. Though KC doing better than rest of US with office using job growth. What’s the likelihood corporate America sees cities like KC as the key to office relocation and downsizing, as well as lower cost of operation and liv...

Is it topped out now? That uppermost floor is quite a bit smaller than the others below it.

Re: Katz on Main

Any ideas on where the last minute requirements for affordable housing, public sharing of parking, and some kind of set aside for minority-owned retail come from? Seems odd to have the in-district council member out of nowhere introducing significant amendments at the council level with no previous...

This property will still get redeveloped. Hopefully the Council will proactively entice a new affordable housing developer via the Housing Trust Fund, because no one is going to go that route on their own without incentives. Perhaps those on the Council who incorrectly consider the streetcar an inc...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

Oh and for those that don't think urban recreation is a big deal. It's a very big deal in most large cities. I see it every week in DC alone. However, I went to NYC this weekend and by far the busiest places in that city were recreation attractions. Central Park, the Highline and the Little Island ...

Re: 69 Highway

I lived in Phoenix before they put in all the secondary freeways that exist now--or the light rail line. At the time only I-10/I-17 went through Phoenix. I got tired of sitting in traffic, and moved closer to work, and in a location where I didn't have to take a freeway. If there was a backup, I ha...

Re: 69 Highway

Something similar already exists elsewhere in the metro -- the connection from southbound I-35 to northbound I-29 in Gladstone. That ramp is in KCMO. That’s another freeway where HOV lanes would be smart. 29 to/from the airport could be used by the bus too I'm not a big HOV lane fan. I sat in Houst...

Is this development replacing this low white building between 19th terrace and 20th on Broadway? Hard to figure out exactly where it is.

It seems like from the south, this building will ultimately look like One and Two Light. Is that accurate? Same color/type of glass facing the south.

I just don't get how Lydia's is still in business. I've probably eaten there a dozen times over 20 years and never had good service or a great meal. A few good ones. Mostly just not good at all. Is it just living on it's name? It must get a lot of tourist traffic as well. I have a foodie friend who...

^And Plaza rents are no where near 5th Ave and Michigan Ave, a fraction. Simply price the goods relative to rent overhead. The Plaza used to have these, no reason it can't again. Is baffling many here don't realize how odd it is Plaza doesn't have these, especially given all the high rise residenti...
