Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District

I think they were laughing at overstated economic impact reports. Mostly seeing kids rides on Grand. I think it was a fine family event honestly. Those people are crazy. If the same impact could be seen every weekend that's $50 million per year. That's better than a Best Buy in terms of annual sale...

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District

The carnival should be a monthly occurrence May-August. This is the type of investment and event management that I want in my scheme for reborn First Fridays. Happy Cordish put this together. That's fine but maybe not at this location. I had no less than 8 downtown residents LOL'ing about it this w...

Re: Four Light

I wonder if they're waiting on the cap to move forward with 4 Light plans. And by the cap, I mean the infrastructure bill basically since they're trying to get funds from it. The cap plays no role but they’re actively designing and planning 4L. Leasing for 3L started yesterday. That demand will hel...

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District

I decided to jump in the car and drive around last night. Wanted to experience what non-residents experience. It wasn’t good. The signage is bad and I saw car after car turn into left turn lanes only to find out they can’t turn left which leads to more traffic issues. I’ll mention to operations dire...

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District

I don't think a random email to contact us is going to alter the membership of the groups planning events. I think this is best handled through the DNA and working through the city to ensure we get represented in these matters. It's just good practice to involve the applicable neighborhood associat...

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District

These events are for the residents. We don't you know include them in the event planning. Just trust us it's for YOU!!! I've been on some zoom meetings over the last year where various communities had reps and others where some downtown residents were actually on the calls. You want to talk about a...

Re: Three Light

DCole, tell the Cordish people that if they end up putting up another tower on the NW corner of 14th and Main that I want it to have a big, lighted blade sign. If they end up building something on the Strata site at 13th and Main, again, I want it to have a big, lighted blade sign. When they build ...

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District

How included is our neighborhood association at these planning meetings? RideKC (Dave?)? Downtown Council? I do think if Cordish is closing roads they bear responsibility to sign it properly just like I mentioned construction companies are required to do for detours. That falls on the city to requi...

Let's all just admit groundbreakings are kind of silly. I'd hate to have to attend those things if I was a public official.
150% for marketing purposes and yes, they're silly but it's important to mark these big milestones downtown, even if it's for 18 Light. ;)

the set up was awkward but it pretty much had to be, there's just not a lot of room over there. at least the block didn't smell like toxic waste like it did yesterday morning around the same time.
We can’t win the smell battle downtown. Everyday it’s a new nasal experience!

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District

I mean are we really making a big deal out of this? Is everything out of the norm always a DEFCON 5 type of travesty? So they closed down Grand for 2 blocks? If that confuses you as a driver so much you become lethal to pedestrians they need to take away your license. Walnut & Main are through stre...

mostly unremarkable looking white guy, blue sweater, very apologetic as i walked through the sightline of some lady who was taking pictures of an empty stage, and oh i did a little dance on the grave of the massive potted plant that formerly blocked pedestrian access near the spark entrance! does t...

Ground breaking ceremony is today. I’ll be curious to see how they set this up with such limited space at the construction site.

You are pretty good at making things up in this thread I give you that.
Example? You’re winning story telling time so far! I may have opinions you don’t agree with but I’ve not made anything up. Other than when being facetious.

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District

Any pedestrian will tell you the most dangerous driver is a confused one. Shutting down grand for two blocks isn't some pedestrian gift. You make it sound like being a “pedestrian” is some kind of club. Anyone with the ability to walk on a sidewalk downtown becomes a pedestrian and I’m guessing if ...
