Re: Future Stadium Plans: Chiefs and Royals

My hot take I've always had to solve the "dormant stadium" problems is that they really should move the Negro Leagues Museum across the street from the stadium. Would probably be a nice deal for both Royals and NLBM because both the museum and stadium would share traction from it. And I'll make one...

Re: Future Stadium Plans: Chiefs and Royals

The area around STL’s stadium is a dead zone outside of the very recent BPV (a copy and paste P&L). Very similar location to east village. They have a sea of parking lots there in STL. We need downtown soccer not baseball or football. Baseball is a dying sport Baseball is far from dying. That's sil...

Re: Future Stadium Plans: Chiefs and Royals

I don’t disagree with you, but I do lol. I love urban sports, but kc has never experienced before. The east village is largely dead and unknown to most. The whole area needs to be developed. I can’t remember what thread we discussed in before, but they need to rethink what a baseball stadium can be...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

As a visitor to MCI - should be KCI? - does anyone know whether we can expect an automated tram to rental cars or is it overlooked that we have to take the randomly-timed, crowded and slow busses? Very old school transit and even more reason to embrace Uber if so. Kind of late response but even wit...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

I'm sure I'll like the new one too but I still liked the short trip to and from gates and bag claim. Why so you can stand there for 30 minutes and wait for your bags to come out and then when they do, the carousel looks like it should be serving a Cessna 172 so everybody is three people deep waitin...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

Still looks like a tight fit to make all that surface parking. KCI's current lots would get pretty full during peak times. I guess if they needed to add capacity they could always add a garage to the area to keep it compact, but maybe it's not needed. I never parked in the garages at KCI. Too expens...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

So it looks like the APM would go into the top level of the RCF. The new economy lot looks to be about 1/2 to 2/3 the size of the current one. Are they planning structured parking or something? I guess they could keep the existing lots as overflow lots? They should have three price points of parking...

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner

^They could put one in the Midwest and we might still be out of range. We’re a lot closer to Dallas than we are so many of those Midwest cities. Put it in St Louis and catch Chicago, KC, Indy etc. Kinda sad how this massive multi billion dollar development that has millions of sq ft of office space...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

Patrick Klein mentioned this relatively recently. He said if it does happen, it would likely be a few years after opening of the new terminal, so think 25-26 start date. It would connect the terminal with consolidated rental car facility, economy parking, and I imagine a passenger drop off/pick up ...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

NBC just posted their list of host city rankings 2 hours ago. https://soccer.nbcsports.com/2021/07/18/2026-world-cup-ranking-usa-host-cities-stadiums/ They have 11 cities going to the US now. I think it's overkill that 4 cities in the northeast (NY, Boston, DC, Philly) would have 4 host cities whil...

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner

On the topic of In-N-Out... I did some research earlier this year on acquiring one. The rules are that all locations must be within 500 miles of one of the three distribution center, so that they can deliver the food without having to freeze it. They just put a distribution center in Lancaster, TX ...

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner

IMO Winstead's has been crap for at least 15-20 years now. Dirty interiors, rude waitstaff, long waits for food, shrinking portion sizes, QC non-existent. Freddy's coming to town had to have hurt them. Similar food is delivered more consistently, efficiently, and often with better customer interact...

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner

OH and while KC is gaining a run of the mill chain whataburger, they are loosing a true local place that I think is (or at least was) much better. RIP Winsteads. And Goodcents might be the best sub chain the country. Only Jersey Mikes competes IMO. KC probably has both lol. I wish we had Goodcents.

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner

Different parts of the country have mostly the same stuff but some different. I really feel like KC has almost everything now except In and Out and White Castle. Here in the DC area we don't have half the fast food chains KC has and the few we do have outside of McDonalds and Burger King have very f...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

I really hope the roads leading up to the terminal are planned well and sized to handle traffic volumes. Austin’s terminal has a similar layout for the head house, and if you go in the afternoon, it is gridlocked getting into arrivals and takes about 30 mins to get through on a good day. Hoping our...

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner

I'm really not understanding the big deal about Whataburger. It's just another run of the mill fast food chain. KC already has just about every fast food chain. More fast food chains are in the KC market than most. I think KC needs to set is bar a little higher lol. Seriously build that area out be...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

I don't get why everyone is making Transit out to be a bad thing in KC, instead of highlighting the fact that we have an awesome highway infrastructure system with zero congestion. Uber, taxis, and other ride hailing services are still a date, are they not? Busses? Highway infrastructure doesn’t ma...

Re: Four Light

I've always appreciated the murals Cordish painted on the blank walls ahead of 2 Light and 3 Light. Now that the back of the Main Street theater is more prominent, with views from Loews and 1400KC, I'm hoping Cordish is considering murals on these two walls ahead of 4 Light. https://i.imgur.com/bYN...
