This motel, it turns out, is where Jim Morrison lived from 1968 to 1971, and where, coincidentally, can now be found a very inexpensive night's sleep, in the middle of the expensive Hollywood hoopla. I actually called ahead and made a reservation, a behavior that I don't think they are used to at Alta Cienega. But, this foresight landed me a reservation for the room where Morrison lived. Since that time, many many people have stayed there, and paid homage to Jim by writing a memorable quote of Jim Morrison, on any surface they can find, in the room.
