On June 22nd, 2007, my cousin Erin got married at Notre Dame de Chicago Church, somewhere in the darkest depths of Chicago's exploding neighborhoods. Almost the whole family turned up for the occasion. We had an excellent time.
Before the wedding, we drove downtown to pick up Kathleen at her office.
Her office just happens to be the Field Museum.
It was very nice to see Rachel again.
Brian, Julia, and Rachel await Kathleen's fully-dressed emergence.
They got wise to my shutterbugging.
We sat in the back of the church, so I didn't get any good pictures of the actual ceremony. My camera's story begins with the post-wedding mingling.
The family mingling was intense.
We all struggled up various traffic-choked streets to the reception hall in Old Town. We should to have taken Ashland. Oh well. Julia caught up with Jim and Joe at the reception.
Uncle Jim gets a shot or two.
Our nuclear family gathered for a periodic shot.
Joe, with his tie over his shoulder in true Peoria Notre Dame High School style, awaits dessert.
Sarah can't reach her bunny ears to my head.
A lovely family photo.
Kathleen and Brian didn't hesitate to dance.
Charlie takes a break from going insane.
Rob and Laura lead the way to the awesome.
Grandpa and Mickey cut a rug, even though there wasn't a single rug in sight.
They aren't the kind of people to be obstructed by administrative problems.
Rachel flew by.
Mary caught a look at the fact that she was being photographed.
Clare and Bill throw it around.
I love accidentally awesome pictures.
Uncle Matt and Aunt Cecilia toast the proceedings.
Genevieve and Celeste get to their part of the song.
The band took a break and, "by chance," our family's song, Rocky Raccoon came on.
Everyone sings.
I had developed quite a layer of sweat.
JJ joined us for a spell.
Rachel and JJ stand side-by-side to see who lives in Oregon.
The dancing got fierce enough that even them most devoted dancers eventually had to take a break.
Michael and Lauren during a particularly excellent segment of song.
I engaged my father for a photograph.
The dancing got a bit too real.
Michael, Andrew, Bill, JJ, and an extraneous passerby capture the camera.
Joseph and Mary enjoy Dancin' in September(in June).
Vince and I took a moment to recall all the times we used to break things.
Tony and Vince were glad to see each other again.
This, lamentably, is the only picture I got of Ellen.
As per usual, a crowd gathered around Mary.
Matt, Aunt Cecilia, and Sarah gathered for a moment.
Tom, Emily, and Lauren danced in complete disarray.
The next day, the Kelly clan assembled at Uncle Pat and Aunt Bea's house in Glencoe for a cookout.
As with most parties with beer on tap, the crowd gathered around the keg.
Rob consumes the head of his nephew.
The baby was a pretty popular landmark.
Rob. Right?
Maggie took a turn holding Yul.
Shoes.
Jim was ready for the picture.
WHAT
I spoke briefly with my esteemed cousin Matthew.
Rob needs to get serious.
Aunt Maggie, Casey, and Maggie(relation) demonstrate the proper operation of a keg.
Yul and Brian took turns talking.
Uncle Jack and Aunt Liz caught my ears when they started talking about towns in Eastern Iowa.
Tony and Casey discussed current events.
Michael had had enough.
Brian and I enjoyed some of our last time with the family for the weekend.
I have a shirt almost exactly like my Dad's. Sigh.
Casey and Vince, all grown up.
Clare, Tony, and Vince feigned happiness when I announced I had to go.
As with any weekend away, I sleep to the sound of charging devices.
