Lord of the Rings

I finished by second full read of Lord of The Rings today, and I have a few thoughts. First of all, I really wish I had read the books in the proper order of the Silmarillion, The Hobbit, and then Lord of The Rings. I unfortunately did not, and in addition, I saw the first of the new feature films before I was very far into the first book. Things would have been much more of a surprise, I think. However, after having read the Silmarillion, I got a lot more out of the big read this time through, and I finished it much more quickly. Last time, it took me about 6 months, because of various lulls and haltings in reading. This time, I finished it in just over five weeks.

Countless are the real-life lessons that can be extracted from the Lord of The Rings. Because of this, and the fact that the incredible story is told in such a manner as to make me proud to speak English, I will reread the story many times, hoping to catch even more; struggling, laughing, and crying along with the characters in this amazing book.

It is a good book, though.
